Dr. Altan Kara
Dr. Kara completed his PhD in Bioinformatics at the University of Wales, Institute of Biological, Environmental and Rural Sciences (IBERS), where he developed a meta-predictive computational tool using support vector machines (SVM) to improve genome-wide prediction of protein-protein interactions. He also carried out pre-doctoral research at the Hungarian Academy of Sciences, focusing on conformational disease mechanisms.
Before establishing GENALYSE, he worked as a Senior Bioinformatics Specialist at The Scientific and Technological Research Council of Turkey, Marmara Research Center (TUBITAK), where he contributed to national and international projects involving AI-supported variant interpretation, high-throughput sequencing analysis, and multi-omics data integration.
He has collaborated with researchers at Harvard Medical School, Boston Children’s Hospital, and the University of Miami on studies related to immune dysregulation and rare genetic diseases. His work has been published in peer-reviewed journals and presented at scientific meetings. A selection of his publications is available on the Publications page.
As Founder & CEO, Dr. Kara leads the scientific and operational direction of GENALYSE, focusing on the development of reproducible, scalable pipelines for clinical and research use.
